Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) is also known as Farm Science Centre. The first kvk was started at Pondicheery in 1974 with the aim of transfer of technical literacy to the agricultural production. The KVK project is sponsored by the ICAR. The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Lower Subansiri was established under Deptt. of Agriculture, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh in Dec 2008. The functioning of KVK was initially started from a rented house at Hapoli (Distt HQ), Ziro with permission of the Director, Deptt. of Agriculture and recently the temporary office of the KVK has been shifted to another rented house at Yachuli.

The site of KVK,Lower Subansiri has been alloted at Yachuli with a total geographical area of 21.95 hectare. The main objectives of the KVK is to impart training or vocational training at the centre or out of the centre i.e. in the village to the people according to their needs about the agriculture and allied subjects viz. Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Horticulture, Agriculture, Home Science etc. KVK imparts vocational training about the farmers needed not only knowledge and understanding but also progressively more and more skills in various agricultural operations by organizing Front Line Demonstration (FLD), On Farm Trial (OFT), Demonstrations, Training programmes, Agricultural Extension etc.
